Rainwait is a 10 minute opera for one baritone, accompanied by tuba and percussion, winner of the Bascom Little Musical Theatre Composition Competition in 1985. Its tagline is “Millions long for immortality who do not know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.” (Susan Ertz) The whirring sounds you hear at the end are of wind-up toys being released.
